I do not get it. And I like absurd humor!

That would be about the best sentence to describe Andy Kaufman's style. He was more about confusing people than making them laugh.

Cue cards. It was actually an inside joke between the cast members and that's it. The producer scuffle was all real.

The script cards I think. Andy seems to have forgotten his lines. Which I would argue is a convincing portrayal of a pothead.
