How the fuck is it even possible to fail an exam where you only need to get 18% of the marks?

33% not passing is pretty fucking awful tbh. I didn't even hand coursework in for a few subjects and still managed to pass everything except French.

It also pledged to talk to the Department for Education about how the impact of these much tougher exams on young people can be mitigated.

How are they expected to do well in college/uni if they can't make it through GCSEs? Surely it is a good thing that our exams are difficult.

GCSEs should be more difficult. I absolutely sailed through high school and I did next to no revision for my exams. I still didn't get a result below a B. Once I got to college I really struggled due to the vast difference in difficulty. GCSEs didn't prepare me for higher education whatsoever.

I was high as balls in one of my history exams and I still ended up getting an A*. I'm no expert, but surely something is wrong if a student is able to achieve the highest possible grade in one of the most difficult subjects with little to no preparation and in a mental condition best documented by this gif.

I did shit in college at first too. It wasn't necessarily the difficulty itself, I just wasn't ready for the amount of preparation I had to do because it wasn't a necessity at all in secondary.

Or maybe the quality of the students has changed. Gee, what could cause that?
