I stayed at a place that was infested for a short time once. I didn't know when I moved in, and I moved out as soon as I knew.
But I did learn that I am one of the lucky people that is immune to them. Still gross.

Bites are visible for about two weeks for me, and I'm glad they are, better to know they're there. I bought some home from a backpackers once.. it was a crazy ordeal trying to get rid of them.

From what I've been told, that is the only way to get rid of them.
Just burn the whole town to the ground, to be sure.
