I have a bit of a hypothesis on this.

I feel like this particular segment of the this generation was never taught how to listen. Many were encouraged to speak up and have input and were praised for doing so, no matter how stupid or uninspired the input was the corporatized rearing of these children focused on HR doublespeak so as making input feel "valued". This meant you couldn't talk down to kids when they needed it and you couldn't give them the opportunity to listen and learn from their mistakes because "oh no no that's not a mistake it's just another way of thinking, in a way Ash Ketchum did write the Magna Carta". Many of these kids were never forced to tolerate hearing something they disagreed with, nor were they intellectually brutalized for sounding retarded. They were taught that their opinion and voice no matter how idiotic deserved to be listened to with credence and nodding your head as opposed to ripping the stupid out of their soul so next time they think before they waste everyone's time with the audible wind exhausting their mouthholes.
