Pretty good talk about the problem, but nothing about possible solutions. Most people don't even realize there is a problem. It still boggles my mind that most people still don't use ad blockers (http://www.businessinsider.com/google-chrome-ad-blocker-popularity-world-chart-2017-4). All it takes is one or two clicks to install an extension or use a browser like Brave that blocks them and the trackers automatically. Of course, if you look around in real life you will see plenty of ads that people are paying to put on themselves. So many clothes are just a big walking ad for a company. And hell, half of the people are driving around with an ad for a car dealership around their licence plate. I'd like to think that enough people will get sick of the ads and the tracking to make a real difference. There are many possible solutions like the Beaker Browser, DAT project, Brave, MetaMask, Blockchain variants, and other decentralized solutions, but people need to realize what these data brokers are doing with their information. In the end, we are going to get the future that we deserve and I think it is going to be centralized, tracked, and homogenized for our consumption.
