I'm sure there won't be any dystopian applications for this.

darpa had been working on more advanced versions of this technology since the early 2000s. I read some article article about a similar technology recently that the military could use to "inject thoughts" into an individual person's mind with a laser rather than sound waves IIRC.

Was that on infowars?

No, there was some main stream articles about using them for non-violent crowd control or something. I don't remember off the top of my head, but it wasn't Mister Jones that told me.

it might be cool office gadget. my friends who work in offices wear their headphones as much to block out the rest of the office noise as they do to listen to music.

that, 'means it’s possible to hear other sounds in the room clearly,' seems like it defeats the purpose, though..

Yeah the last office building I worked in had so much ambient noise that it was impossible to concentrate while working without headphones on. Need the mufflers some places

my brokers office is like that. i could never concentrate with so much noise. it wasnt as though they were goofing around, there were just so many of them all seemingly talking to three people at once.

insane.
