Chrome is a bad measure for this sort of graph. I use brave on mobile and desktop which is anthetis to the creation out chrome. The open source browser is just an advertising utility...don't touch it.

Chrome is a bad measure for this sort of graph.

How so? If it also counts Brave users as Chrome users then it's within a reasonable margin of error. I don't think brave has >1% of the global browser market share. Same for Chromium

How would you think Chrome doesn't have >1% market share?

I noticed Samsung Internet. Chrome on Android is probably over half this Chrome boost.

Well, Chrome for Android launcher in 2012, a few months after Chrome surpassed IE. It probably became mainstream on the couple next years

I used to have a job where web pages had to work on Netscape 3.0. Try doing anything interesting with that restriction. I'll eat the ass of any Indian dude telling me computer stuff any day before this

Google censors the installation of Chrome plugins they don't like. That's enough for me to be done with Chrome forever. Fuck Chrome and fuck Google.

That won't repeat. There are too many developers and companies out there that will stick to cross-browser compatibility.

Well but the way we're going there'll be a single browser engine used in the market!

I guess the ultimate cross-browser compatibility exists if you only have one browser

There's always Opera. It's straight-up written in Java.

That number will dwindle as more and more people adopt Chrome. The only reason we cared about browser compatibility when I used to work in web development was solely because certain customers were locked into using custom builds of IE and Netscape (am I showing my age?). The only people who really care about browser compatibility these days are advertisers, and they own Chrome.

People who care about compatibility is any smart company. Safari mobile is different from IE is different from firefox from chrome.

IE is already abandoning its platform for a chrome-based browser. Apple and Mozilla may not be far behind. There is no profit for those other companies in the browser business, it doesn't make sense for them to compete.
