How much would removing subsidies raise the costs? It seems like a fairly smart investment for energy companies to invest in solar panels and wind turbines (if they are feasible for the area) since those use resources that are highly unlikely to run out. However, both have their drawbacks such as solar requiring a large area of land to be cleared and wind turbines being unsightly.
