How anyone enjoys spending time on that dystopian platform is beyond me.

It's more of an addiction than enjoyment

Time for a War on Social Media? It would probably be less harmful to society than other past "wars".

Think of how many billions of man hours have been lost to social media use. Many people have their life or career destroyed because of social media. It's detrimental to society

There are some decent libertarian pages still on there, I can see what's going on with my kids' school, keep up to date with my aunt and cousins, and get news for my favorite college team that is usually more reliable than the paper or sports sites. I pretty much use it as a news aggregator for things I won't see here. I rarely post anything on my own page and have all my privacy settings set to the highest I can have and don't allow sharing of my posts. I don't even get ads very often on there because of my settings.

That said there are parts that get on my nerves like their algorithm for what posts I see in my feed. Somedays I debate shutting down my account and walking away but most days it doesn't bother me enough to care.

Yeah, I know people still use it for these kinds of reasons. It's a chicken and egg problem: if people use it, it forces others to. It's not because it is the best way to share things but because it is the defacto standard. People should leave to create content elsewhere. There really is no shortage of content anywhere else, so just because there is some good stuff on there doesn't really mean you're giving up anything.

I think it's better to leave and create value in others ways that don't lead to this massive centralized nightmare headed by a psychopath. I also wouldn't want to contribute to increasing the value of that company by even participating.

By all means, if a viable alternative existed then I would switch. I'm just not sold on the alternatives that are currently available. If Facebook continues to censor libertarian pages then I will probably switch to another site.

The platform is so dystopian, I question whether I should really be there anymore.

if you do not used post filtering programs, it can drive you nuts.

I routinely filter out political posts
