They were real troopers, I was impressed. We did 25 miles in three days, not bad (car camped two days). Of course my pack was the heaviest, I carried most of the food. But it was nice, well worth it.
It was actually great to have some company on a backpacking trip. Usually I go solo, which I like, but nice change of pace.

I recently took my two teenage kids on a camping/backpacking trip for five days. No complaints about being out of cell coverage at all. It was great for all of us. You really do need to disconnect, I wish I could do it more often.
