Horrible company strikes again. If you want to stay in contact with people, write a letter or email and avoid the temptation to turn your private life into tabloid gossiping over a "newsfeed". People who are actually important to you life will love the personal attention, and it will lead to stronger friendships instead of bitterness, envy, and addiction.
