Slammed into the truck going 60mph and only broke his ankle. Color me impressed

A firetruck, no less. I imagine it was much like hitting a wall.

It honestly depends on the angle of contact. Rear ending a fire truck or semi head on in the back, you'll be fine. Hit either of those at a diagonal, everyone at least in the front seats dies immediately. I've seen it happen. It's an image I can't unsee.

Calling it now, the NHTSA instructs Tesla to disable Autopilot on all cars currently on the road. This leads to a massive class-action and a shareholder revolt. The stock tanks, Tesla can't find funding ton continue its operations and is acquired by GM for pennies on the dollar.

Nah, Tesla and most of Eli's companies are heavily subsidized by the US Govt. If anything this will just be seen as the price of perfecting the technology. Even when using autopilot users are instructed to be attentive and brake as needed.

Isn't the value of all TSLA stock worth about as much as GM? How is any of this supposed to make sense? So if Tesla manages to become a world-leading car manufacturer (and as you point out there are many possible ways along the way that they fail to keep growing, how is the price of their stock supposed to go up from there?

Common sense lesson from this: Don't rely on an automated mode like Autopilot to do the driving for you.

Also, this proves how dumb of an idea Autopilot mode is.
