Reason for Creating this Sub

I like to listen to lectures/talks/roundtables. Half the time I have one on in the background while I'm working and some of them I think are awesome and worth sharing.

I was a big fan of /r/lectures many years ago before the whole site went to crap. I also liked /v/lectures however like /r/lectures it got flooded with the same braying/pandering political posts instead of cool talks about dinosaurs.

A sub to post talks/lectures of intellectual merit. Civil roundtable discussions, academic lectures, and talks that express/expound upon ideas are welcome. Talks by people telling great stories are also welcome.

Rules:

If the talk is about a political topic there has to be an actual civil discussion going on (In other words this is not a sub talking heads just yelling about a hot button issue).
Talks about conspiracy theories are better posted elsewhere (There tends to be a very fine line between interesting theories that are potentially verifiable and complete and utter crap, we don't need a flame wars here).
No pseudoscience.
Keep discussion civil. Attacking an idea is encouraged, attacking a person is not.
