There's canned salmon but it's disgusting.

In the UK we usually get herring in glass jars rather than canned.
It depends on what kind of herring. Smoked herring in oil comes canned here, while pickled herring comes in jars.
Here in Australia Sardines are the more popular canned fish. There's also Salmon, Tuna and Mackerel that I've seen around. All of those are oily fish naturally so I guess that's why they are canned and others aren't.
