They're only like 4 generations from their last big war but perhaps white people adapt faster?

Maybe, after all humans are really good at adapting to almost any environment. Besides the scientists haven't tested to re-introduce the animals earlier, maybe they already lost their fear after just a couple of generations. But now it's too late for them to find out.
