Our latest study on crystals from Mount Etna in Italy has shown that if new magma arrives in chambers 10 km below Etna's surface, an eruption can follow within two weeks.

I'm confused at how they have access to these crystals

It doesn't really say, interesting question though. All it really talks about is mapping them with lasers ... but hey, I haven't had my coffee yet, and my mind isn't quite fully functional. I'll think on it ... LOL
