Pictures are a big boost to adoption rates. In the time of filters and Instagram it’s smart getting the best pictures of adoptable animals.

Good volunteer opportunity too for those phukers with camera and post work skill. Bring your work to the shelter and see if you can help take professional photos of adoption candidates.

That is a terrific suggestion!

I once had the opportunity to get professional shots of my dogs. (Right time right place) The photographer was able to capture something that I had been unable with just a point and shoot camera phone. Having a photographers eye can really bring out the essence of a subject. It’s a prized procession of mine and receives compliments from those who pass by it.

Shelters make little to no money. There’s no funding for photos. It’s usually just the shelter administration photo used on web sites. Got to sell these pups and cats cuteness to the public.

I agree completely. The pictures on sites like Petfinder are often taken with a cell phone at some of the shelters I know.
