1 John 2:15-17 King James Version (KJV) 15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
How can the world not be of the Father?
If the Father is the source of the world, then wouldn't he also be the source of lust and pride?
If lust goes away when the world does, wouldn't that mean that so does man? Lust and pride are components of man. Does that make man a product of the world and not the Father? No matter what the answer, does that not create a conflicts with the above statements?
There seems to be some contradictions in these lines.
I really don't think lines of the bible can be taken out of their context, and retain any valid meaning on their own.
