I thought I would get this sub started by adding my own predictions With the reddit sellout update making its way to more users I have made the following predictions based on current practices. Net Neutrality posts will disappear. With Net Neutrality being a big issue at the moment on reddit I can see people paying them to censor any debate supporting Net Neutrality. A huge scandal will probably happen and they will dont no responsibility for it. More slightly right leaning subs will get censored even the ones who have common ground with the left with only extremist right subs like the donald remaining. This will fuel the extremes on each side even more most likely they will put the responsibility on anyone but themselves. Loss of old layout. The old layout was a big part of reddit and while they have said they wont get rid of it their actions speak louder than words if it gets removed don’t be surprised. Having people who work for reddit as influencers with inflated upvotes. Promoted posts may stay at the top for everyone to see regardless of upvotes/downvotes. Upvotes/downvotes or any other button a few pixels from an advertisement making it easier to accidentally click on an ad. I’m not a psychic all of these predictions might come true or none of them might come true this is just what I’ve gathered from how things are currently being handles thankyou.

All of what you predicted sounds very imaginable and makes me quite sad. I wonder about the long term effects of this. It is clear that large tech companies have gained enormous influence as arbitraters of speech and what type of conversations are allowed. How does this end though? Do they continue to gain centralizing influence? Or do new technologies, protocols, and companies adapt and push things in the other direction?

I think both of these outcomes will happen: these companies will grow more powerful and aggressive before citizens recoil in the other direction. History seems to more as a pendulum, but nobody knows its period.

Yeah hopefully it goes in the other direction but history seems to be a fly that keeps hitting the window over and over again when there is 10 open windows around it.
