Because that's not how genetics work. Sperm and eggs are generated from a completely different process. The only way they could have passed on genetic damage would be if the "processing plants" were themselves damaged. Even then, girls would have a lesser chance of expressing damage in the first generation than boys (this is why most colorblind people are men).

This has been studied at Hiroshima and Nagasaki too and similarly found that children and grandchildren were fine with no higher risk of cancer.

My guess if you surveyed the population, 90% would say radiation is "passed on" to the children. It's a misunderstanding and myth that refuses to die.

Interesting. What makes the strands that go into gametes more resilient? Is there more errors correction involved in the manufacture?
