The bigger eye opener is that you might have more options than you think you have. A homeless tramp has the option of sleeping under the underpass and eating dumpster dive food if he doesn't want to panhandle. You too have that option but would never consider it. The homeless can freight hop to the next town if he wants to. You have a mortage to pay and would never consider it, so you're in essence stuck in one location, but nothing is stopping you from running away from it all. You probably have many more options than you think you have, so you should frequently consider what your range of options truly are (but a lot of those are probably crappy anyway and not worth pursuing).
