I made a brief post about this one but didn't really say much about it. The game was apparently made by a bunch of Redditors on the /r/VisualNovels subreddit. I can't remember what they call themselves, but they're making another one that looks pretty good.

The basic premise is you're driving through Arizona in an RV, when you see a girl at the side of the road flagging you down. You end up travelling across the US with her searching for treasure. There are no choices in the game.

One major difference between Highway Blossoms and all the other VNs I've played is the realism. All of the story is plausible, and you don't get anything that makes no sense. The storyline and general aesthetic is great, and it lasts just the right amount of time. It is fairly short and could probably be finished in around 4 hours.

This is an "adult" visual novel, but it is completely secondary. The focus is very much about the characters in the game and the plot. The actual plot, not that kind of plot. Although there is an adult patch. Love Ribbon still holds the title for the best lesbian sex scenes though, Highway Blossoms has no animated parts.

One thing that struck me after I played for a couple of hours is how good the soundtrack is. It fits in perfectly with the setting/design of the game and gives it it's own aesthetic/feeling.

If I had to pick out some negative aspects, I would say the worst thing about the game is the "auto" feature. All visual novels have an auto button, so you don't have to click to move on to the next slide. The problem is, the one in Highway Blossoms is fast as shit, so you have to turn down the scrolling speed of the text to be really slow, which irritates me. There is also no option to hide the text box, which is annoying because sometimes it obscures the plot. I suppose some choices would have been nice, but the storyline and characters are good enough for it to not bother me.

8/10 would grope hitchhiker in my RV again

If you don't usually go for visual novels, this one could be an entry point, though I would actually recommend VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action as a starting novel. I will review that one at some point.

Edit: This is the one I'm playing now. I can tell by the menu screen that its going to be good.

Neat review! I'll have to do my own on ones I've played at some point.

Also "useless goddess" is almost enough to grab me on its own, in the same way "Hetalia" in Axis Powers: Hetalia basically translates to "useless Italy".

EDIT: Also your CSS blows, get a decent color scheme on here. :p
