I actually worked with a woman about fifteen years plus back and she told us the story of how her son needed to call his mom from school, so they took him to the office and handed him a rotary phone. It must have been a lot like this, because she laughed about how he had no clue how you made it work. He thought it was like magic or something ... kept pushing the numbers and nothing happened. Then when the secretary showed him how, he couldn't imagine how spinning the dial got you to the right number. When his mom answered, he was stunned. Maybe ya had to be there, but it was a funny story for us at the time.
