My daily driver is was a 2005 Mustang. Bought it used. Had troubles with the driver door window not working right when opening and closing for a few years and some minor interior work I'd been putting off because it wasn't critical. Dealership wouldn't touch it because it was too old. So I took it to highly recommended little hole in the wall mechanic who has like 30 cars packed into the parking lot that he's working on or keeping for parts (I'm not sure which).

Turns out it was the door latch that needed to be replaced. The problem is that Ford doesn't make certain parts for that age/model Mustang any more. It took over a month to get a replacement part. This would be okay if it wasn't my daily driver and I already have a project vehicle that I have to find and order all parts for online.

So I went car shopping.

I bought a 2021 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack Wide Body. Right off the showroom floor. I wanted the driver technology package it has and I wanted the experience of buying a new car. I had thought I was going to have to order one and I originally wanted to look at a Hellcat Redeye but those have more power than I'd be able to enjoy (around 800 horsepower). But buying off the showroom floor is an experience, for sure. It's not often that it happens and all the dealers take notice. Everyone is happy to see you buying it.

The Scat Pack goes 0 to 60 in 4.2 seconds. It has a built in dyno and engine readout gauge system (like intake air temp, oil temp and pressure, current HP and torque output, realtime G force meters).

485 horse power. And a HUGE trunk (what I wanted in a car with power). 6.4 liter engine (392 cubic inches). All parts are Mopar.

My dream car had always been a Viper but those ended up being overpriced gas hogs without the power that they should have had for such a large engine. And with prices for used ones (they don't make then new anymore) around $100K, it was a stretch beyond my budget.

I didn't like the material the seats came with so I had them do it in leather. It's in the shop getting the Scat Pack logos embroidered on the front seats right now. I've had the front end paint protection wrapped and I plan to wrap the rest of the car and then ceramic coat it. I'll also be doing some modifications to the air intake (dry high flow air filter, put in the Hellcat air intake which feeds from the front of the car and not below it thus cooling air temps and increasing power and efficiency).

They gave me all kinds of discounts during the purchase and my monthly payment is roughly $840. Insurance is shockingly low (notably less than $200 a month with an insanely low deductible). It's close to the high end of what my budget was but I'm happy with it.

The color (Octane Red) wasn't my first choice but I like it.

It wasn't until after I bought it that I found out that people are outrunning police with these cars. And that R/T on the front means "Road and Track" and everything in it is SRT level equipment.

I'm quite happy with my purchase.

Edit: It has built in voice control systems which integrates with the phone.
