Sounds about right

IMO it's likely the management is just trying to push the dreaded climate change/ global warming scare. I don't even know what they're calling it anymore. Recently I heard it called a climate crisis. It seems they're upping their game into full blown panic mode.

Clearly you have the climate crisis on your mind - I don't blame you really. Regarding the article it's not clear how some corporate asshole pissing people off with fake 'code red' announcements relates to global heating at all.
