The US and Israel have been beating around the bush with Iran for a while now. Between the stuxnet attack and all those Israeli assassinations of Iranian scientists, war is somewhat inevitable. Obama's whole thing with Iran was simple. He wanted them to have MAD. He wanted a legitimate islamic nation with nuclear arms.
In short, Obama fucked Iran really hard by trying to help them.
If you look through history, Iran always breaks its deals and does so anywhere from like 6 years to 10 years on. They do this because they know that they will have almost no punishment for it and what punishment happens is short term and countries eventually forget. "It won't be like last time, pinky promise."
Of course they do this because the US et al are not Muslim countries and they feel that they have an obligation to take as much as they can while being as dishonest as possible. Every time a country forgets that they will do this is another insult by Iran to that country.
And that is why I'm all for screwing Iran over as much as possible.
Didn't they, like, threaten the US when Trump announced that we'd be pulling out of the deal? Not inspiring confidence that the deal was the right decision.
