The West has offshored much of its pollution (and industrial growth) to China. It will also be interesting to see how much of a hellhole Chinese make their country. I'm not envious of their position at all.

Studies have found that the medium sized cities (for China) between 1 and 5 million people, are actually worse than the mega cities like Beijing, Shanghai, etc. as the mega cities have put in SOME measure of poluution controls, whereas these smaller cities have not.
And if Shanghai is "clean", where you can't see the building next to you through the yellow-brown smog, I don't think I want to see these other cities.
