This is just the usual may 1st riots / unrest with police in these parts. We don't officially celebrate "day of labour" in NL (and it used to be the day after queensday)so it isn't a thing here. But in Ger, Bel, Fra and Ita it is a national holiday and quiet often even the subways and busses aren't even functioning (I got stranded in Milan once and had to take a cab to cityy centre). Oldskool protest marches often annually clash with police due to provocation from both sides. It's not seen as a "big thing" or a "sign of the times" over here. There are hardy any casualties or seriously wounded and it happens every time. Sortof like a light version of hooliganism.
