Dr. Phil and his staff have been accused of giving drugs and alcohol to addicts before appearing on his show in efforts to boost ratings

This doesn't surprise me. The people coming onto the show are full blown addicts. They usually fly to LA to tape the show and it's illegal to transport drugs. Of course they're going to need their drug of choice when they arrive in CA or they'll go into detox. And most addicts can't detox without medical supervision.

Well, can't have them leaving the premises to go look for booze and smack before he is able to boost ratings by having them on stage during the actual show, can he? It's just good business sense, really.
