Death Wish... with Bruce Willis

The original w/ Charles Bronson will still make you feel uncomfortable watching it today and it was meant to. The director really wanted you to identify w/ the vigilante. From graphic rape scenes to lives destroyed by violence. The underlying message of this remake is "look how easy guns are to get".

It really is bizarre some 40 years later director's can't create something like the original b/c of all the "triggering" it would cause.

That's why I'm a huge fan of independent movies and short films. There's no focus groups, no legal teams, no advertising campaigns, just artists with a passion for storytelling.

They already made 5 Death Wish movies, they pretty much squeezed that stone dry. There really was no good reason for a remake, also the casting was way off, Willis is too much of an action star and role really calls for a somewhat regular guy driven to a crusade of revenge. It would be like if they remade Falling Down with The Rock.
