I don't understand how you can mess this up. it's so simple:
you need to take "Catch me if you can" and just run a smart main character romanticizing getting caught by the Smartest detective on earth. aaaaaaand right at the end the detective gets PwNeD because there is a supernatural aspect that blindsides him which is Ryuk which tilts everything in Light's favour so he temporarily wins. that's how you run the first movie.
The Hero is the evil.
now you've made room for a second movie where you reverse this exact plot with Neer blindsiding the main character, Light, while his counterpart runs the mafia and gains control of a serious underground movement that delivers the grand ending with Light's dad. It's so simple.
wtf is wrong with Netflix?

I got busy with the kids as my woman finished it but yeah..... the next day I refound my spot and finished it... I almost wish I hadn't but I did so what's done is done. I almost think that the rightsholders of Death Note gave it to Netflix to make sure there wont be a good american version... kind of "keep it in japan" as an idea.... which would make sense... because it seems so hard to fuck up from my point of view
It could have been so much better than it was. Freakin idiots.
