Gibson told the blog that the semi-automatic carbine is capable of firing a three-round burst ...

This is reported on Military.com. What did the reporter omit or is this misleading?

IIRC, in Vietnam they decided that full auto can be a waste of ammo, and added a selector on the M16 that limits a trigger pull to "three round burst". It may still have a full auto selection, but "three round burst" is an option.

I can't read minds, like you, I can just read what's there.

Sorry, my point is that an assault weapon is capable of firing more than one round when you pull the trigger once. A semi-automatic weapon means every time there is pressure on the trigger only one round is fired, basically.

Military.com is reporting an assault weapon is a semi-automatic, which could be misleading. Even if using an, "All horses are four-legged animals but not all four-legged animals are horses."
