All mass media is narrative, editorialization and propaganda. Even outlets like AP and Reuters, which traditionally have been far more objective reporting outlets, have slipped into publishing some sketchy editorialized articles. Saying "the truth is paywalled" is just confirmation bias.
Also note that all of those paywall sites base thousands of articles using AP, AFP and Reuters as the source (all of which are 'free') and then charge you to read them.

this has been an increasingly problematic side of our media outlets. And we're starting to see the repercussions of this trend.
