I've created close to ten accounts on voat because of "locked for..." Really makes little sense if someone decides to ban your account and you can simply create a new account- skews the user data and fills up the server space with dead accounts- doesn't it?

If you're creating 10 accounts to avoid bans, I suggest that the problem isn't being banned but rather your behavior which leads to the bans as well as your refusal to learn how to behave and stubbornness thus leading to continually creating accounts.

Their house, their rules. Perhaps you should consider a house with rules you like instead of taking the internet so seriously.

No no, you misunderstand. I have never been banned- as far as I know; I am not a stir-shit and have emailed Voat mods and Putt several times due to being unable to access an account. So I pardon your rude assumption that I am a problem when it could be the site itself that glitches on a fairly regular basis.

So the whole "creating 10 accounts" has absolutely nothing to do with your behavior?

We could assume that you're not causing any kind of trouble and that means that either you have been sloppy in spreading personal information and want to erase your trail or that you get tired of the same name.

Either way, it boils down to your behavior. No one forces you to create a new account. You do so of your own accord. Then you take it too seriously that you have 10 open accounts on another site that you are, ostensibly, leaving as if it's important at that point unless you want to take a "burned bridges" approach which is, again, either to erase a trail or, alternatively, to spite the site and admin by using deletion as a way to rapidly mass delete your contributions.

Furthermore, if there is a problem where you are being locked out of your accounts, you have two choices. Either stop using various pieces of technology which flags your accounts as abusive (such as VPN with constant exit node switching) or perhaps hammers sites which uses trackers (for example, adnaseum) that cloudflare sees as abusive or examine your online interactive behavior with users. Again, either way, this is your behavior (in technology or in talk).

And finally, no one forced you to keep creating those accounts. There are other sites such as reddit, raddit, steemit, this one, and so on ad infinitum. So, again, this is your behavior in that you keep going to a site where it is known that the admin has essentially abandoned it.

Then, amazingly, you come here and complain about it. Pretty sure there's no one here who can do anything about it so it comes down, again, to your behavior.

Rude assumption indeed. Given that reaction, I'd say it's more than likely your interpersonal behavior that is the cause of the issue.

Thanks for replying again. No complaints about Voat, I merely wanted someone to help me understand the "locked for security reasons" message. You've given me valuable information because I have trialed a couple vpn's; I don't know how exit nodes affect servers...and no, I am not abusive and have no "bridges burned".

I highly doubt there is a single person on Voat or any "controversial" site that doesn't have more than one account; for heavens sake someone is always accusing someone on Voat of "brigading" and upvoating with alt accounts or/and bots, and/or buying/selling accounts.

I have no idea how to do any of the aforementioned...maybe you do and could kindly explain it. When Voat went down for the most recent three day interval I did indeed delete my account and renew.

Anyway, I enjoy Voat. It's a great site full of vitriol and even humor. I do believe it is monitored by some alphabet agency...and while that makes me nervous it does not prevent me from using the site.

the user data and fills up the server space with dead accounts

Accounts you can not delete if you have ever been banned from any subverse.

I've never seen that message before, "locked for security reasons".

But I have heard through the grapevine that there is a glitch where if your account is ever banned in any sub, then it prevents you from deleting your account. I'm not sure of the followup to this mess, it could be another 6 months before putt makes a statement.
