They control Anon downvoats. I saw about 3 weeks ago because I was up with my daughter all night. There was this potato shitposting in annon and it was equally downvoated +8-8 and when I woke up it was +8-0. It was busters I'm pretty sure. there was about 4 of the posts like that and they all did the same.

Gabara can fake ban you from any sub... fake banned me from v/Canadafirst... my own sub I freaked for a sec n tested it...

conjecture: @Needlestack was telling the truth about Anon posts. That's their playground.

We've known this for a long time. It's where all the Phuks shitposts originate in /v/anontalk, that have ironically had the effect of drawing good users to Phuks.

Edit: also probably the source of the incident in which a Phuks "user" was banned for creating multiple accounts and trying to manipulate votes.

Anon subs became a cancer on Voat. Just my opinion, l but there's no legit reason for an anon sub ... anyone who wants to post anonymously can do so by making a throwaway alt. I get the idea, but the anon sub thing was exploited and helped tear goatland to shreds.

That was the reasoning behind not implementing anon subs here. There has never been any legitimate use for them other than to cause shit for other people. No good content or discussion has ever come of it.

That's great ... and a wise move. You're absolutely right.

This is why I am here. You can just feel the fuckery in the air over there.

Really just sounds like run of the mill brigading. It's super easy to do by yourself. As far as the "fake ban" thing, I've never seen it before but just seems like a security loophole being used to spook folks.

  1. Create multiple accounts.
  2. Circumvent security by using a vpn (Super easy w/ a service like PIA)
  3. Upvote and downvote anything you want as many times as you want.
  4. With extensions like "session box" you don't even need to log in and out of voat accounts. Just switch tabs.

I do agree there's a darker purpose to some shitposting. They want you to be annoyed with the site. I doubt they actually congregate in a single subverse like sbbh. There's some decent sbbh folks like Nadesh etc.

I made Rotteuxx co-owner of CanadaFirst because he was there from the start to help me and he's a mod at SBBH. I don't think I'm wrong about the main lot that shitpost every night though, they've got anon privileges

Interesting. Yes, I noticed a lot of fuckery in anon subs but never could put my finger on it. Can you expand on the fakeban?

On the issue of being ID'ed in an anon sub, its almost certainly not because they have some secret admin access to voat's servers.

If you don't disable subverse CSS, you load all the elements within the style sheet. If some of these elements are loaded from a server that they have admin access to, they now have your IP. They can then use metadata and some fuckery regarding the combination of elements you are allowed access to narrow your IP and match it to your username.

If you then post to an anon sub that they control (all three of the major ones) other CSS elements again leak your IP, they can simply match up your IP to your username from a list.

As for the fake bans, are you sure it wasn't a near spelling? You'll notice that Gabara only mods 9 subs, and its pretty simple to create a sub, send some bans, and revoke your ownership before anyone can check the user page.

Finally the vote manipulation... yes. They have scripts that manage accounts, and the existing javascript to auto upvote or downvote is pretty simple to modify, even for someone (like me) that can't code for shit.

In short, these all sound like tricks that any motovated sophomore working on a CS degree could manage.

the only response is that it was v/CanadaFirst which is my sub, it wasn't misspelt. The rest of what you say sounds logical? still pretty messed up for a hobby.

[–] Sarcastaway 3 points (+3|-0)

Well, I sorta doubt its just a hobby. Seems more like something you'd have to be paid to justify doing. Hosting your own server to load those elements from might not be super expensive, but it would still be money out of pocket.

IMO, they're either political zealots, or paid for their work. Neither would really surprise me.

Someone from SBBH (I strongly assume) came here and stole NeedleStack's nik (meaning you pinged the imposter lol).

That's fucked up about the votes. That's what PuttItOut gets for giving them dev powers. He may say they don't have special access but it doesn't mean they don't. They could be fooling him for all he knows.
