The human brain is not naturally wired to understand percentages (ratios). It sounds reasonable but it is not.

I wonder how much of that is nature vs nurture.
Exponential/Logarithmic progression doesn't seem very intuitive at first, but once people get over the initial conceptual barrier, it starts to become clear(ish).

So it is possible that our brains are wired fine for it, but we have to overcome a lifetime of learned linear thinking.
