I'm not sure what a "gob" is, so I'm not sure if they're the same? I suspect you're right, because there was a bit of an ado with regards to various groups of people claiming to have invented them and those groups of people are in Maine and Pennsylvania.
I make my own whoopie pies but I changed the recipe so that they're pumpkin with cream cheese filling.
They are delicious.
Sometimes, I put raisins in 'em.
I don't use the often very often - but I'll make those and I'll also make oatmeal raisin cookies.
I think I've had a pumpkin variant before, it's a good idea. I especially like the cream cheese idea. How about carrot cake whoopie pies with cream cheese filling, though? That would be amazing.
I don't know about the raisins, though. I can't imagine raisin and pumpkin together.
I haven't tried that - but I may get bored and try it over the winter.
And raisins are delicious. They used to be my favorite, before I got into blueberries. Now, obviously, blueberries are my favorite - but I admit my bias!
Also, I'm never gonna admit this again (maybe), but I really, really like prunes.
I figure I can enjoy prunes until I start to look my age. After I look my age, people will think I'm buyin' 'em 'cause I need to poop! Really, I'm buying them because they're delicious.
We have this down here, often called "gobs" instead. The Amish make the best bakery stuff. They're artisans of sugar concoctions.
