Both of these alternatives are a lot of work compared to gksu when you do them a lot. 😐 oh well, it's something.

pkexec is a simple as gksu and doesnt give the gpahical errors gksu does but it does require a script which Canonical provides for the programs you would use it for.

I mainly posted this article because it seemed off base to me and like you said making more work.

Not sure what happened to pkexec command which was the recommended method and works fine for me. Guess I have some research to do.
