Cut it to a half inch and you don't have to cut for 3 weeks or more. Cut it to 2 or 3 inches it lies down like a crack whore and needs mowing again the next week.

I'm thinking my grass is different to yours. It's rare i have to cut as often as 3 weeks. I may need to take a picture next time I mow.

It depends how much water the lawn gets. My parent's place has a low hill which is a dry area and an area where the four acres of rain drains. In the dry area you can't tell the difference if you mow every week. In the wet area weekly mowing allows the grass gets so long that often clogs the mower.

Weeds love more notches.

Iv'e moved mine up for and for the last two years I've noticed more native grasses now catch on and compete with the couch(?). You do get more weeds like Dandelions but if you keep on top of those they don't get a chance to take. It would also depend on our different climates and type of weeds, I guess as well.

It's also possible I'm calling weeds native grasses.
