Alfred Hitchcock enjoyed outwitting the censors. In making Notorious (1946), he arranged for Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman to engage in a kissing scene that lasted far longer than the three seconds permitted by the Production Code Administration.

In the film, Bergman and Grant begin kissing, talk briefly, resume kissing, lean away for a moment and kiss again, nibble on each other’s ears, and get back to kissing again.

For audiences, the scene was one prolonged sensational kiss. But the two stars never at any one point kissed for more than three seconds, so it got by censors.

Bonus:

I believe this is the scene!
