LBJ insisted that Lawrence F. O’Brien take his oath of office as Postmaster General in a little post office in Hye, Texas, where he recalled mailing his first letter at the age of four.

”It was about fifty-three years ago,” said LBJ at the ceremony, “that I mailed my first letter from this post office. And Larry O’Brien told me a few moments ago that he is going out to find that letter and deliver it.”
