Louis XII, the elderly King of France, was able to appreciate the feelings of one who had been duped by Ferdinand. It is of Louis that the story runs that he sent an ambassador to complain to his fellow monarch that the King of Aragon had deceived him twice.

”He lies, the sot,” cackled Ferdinand in high good humor, “I have deceived him five times!”
