I've held plenty of arguments with people who berate me for not keeping a "good schedule".

I always tell them I don't like to try and cut out a destiny for myself. I feel much better when things just happen.

I hear too, mostly from my girlfriend. Her favorite phrase is "you didn't tell me in advance". Even if it's something for the next day or two.

I don't always know what I'm going to feel like doing. Sometimes you do need to plan in advance but most of the time, no.

"Those who scheduled getting frozen yogurt construed it more like work," according to the paper. So if we're not supposed to schedule our free time, how are we expected to get anything done? Or see our friends? The answer, according to Malkoc, is "rough scheduling," meaning meeting for lunch or an after-work drink but not assigning it a time.

1: Think less entitled
