Haven't tried it but it's an intriguing concept. Seems like it might make the trees more susceptible to being blown over in high winds. Also how does it affect the growth of the tree?

They supposedly let enough sunlight through where it shouldn't stunt the growth. I might do a test where I cover one tree and let the rest uncovered. The sour cherry is a prime candidate for being covered for this test.

I'm more worried about the extra weight on the limbs causing more stress and weakening them. Cherry trees already have narrow crotch angles that can split from the weight of a large crop.
