So today England are playing Germany, supposedly one of the biggest games in international football. But to be honest, I don't really give a fuck. I find international games incredible boring. I find it all a bit tedious apart from a two week period every two years. It might be because I'm watching England, I don't know what it's like to watch an actually successful team. What do you think?

I enjoy watching England, mostly because we are not a successful team. There is a sort of shared national disappointment that I like.

Maybe that is why I support Newcastle.

Edit: See what I mean?

See, I have enough disappointment watching my own club never mind watching England! I think I'd prefer it if we were even shitter. We breeze through the qualifiers every time. The only time games mean anything is at tournaments. I'm apathetic to the friendlies and qualifiers.

You're missing out. When you watch the friendlies and qualifiers, you gain hope as you see the team getting better. Once in a while we will get an influx of younger players, and the team looks like it could have an outside chance. Of course, when a tournament rolls around, we inevitably lose in a disappointing fashion, crushing the hopes you had watching all of those friendlies.

You need to raise your disappointment levels, it is the only true way to appreciate how shit our team is.
