In world cup football this would be seen as extremely poor sportsmanship if this would've been allowed to go trough. Mind you they not only kickoff old style (two man instead of the new 1) they also make an offside pass right after kickoff. So even if they think it would work, the execution is flawed and it would be stopped for offside if play was allowed.
International football has long, long memories and if England would have actually pulled this off they would be scorned, ridiculed and made fun of by the entire international football world for decades.

This would have been allowed when I played as a kid. We were told not to relax, the match is always active. Once the ball is in place, the match continues.
