Thank god. He should have been cut from the squad as soon as he stopped playing as a striker imo. Lallana would have been able to fill that position he started playing in and done a much better job.

I think that's the reason he never reached his full potential. He's spent most of his career tracking back and chasing the ball like a child. If it had been drilled into him to just stay up front, then he might have become the striker we all hoped.

An excellent footballer at club level and certainly a legend of the Premier League. However, while good for England, he never truly reached his full potential at international level. Yes, he is England's all time scorer, but how many of them have come when it has mattered. In my opinion, to be a truly great player, you have to step up at the highest stage. He's not the only one. The entire 'Golden Generation' was full of players who were world beaters for their clubs, but were never good enough for England.
