https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Education_Association

From 1989 through the 2014 election cycle, the NEA spent over $92 million on political campaign contributions, 97% of which went to Democrats.

So much for science.

Public unions should be outlawed. They tried it here in Ohio and it didn't go over well. It was looked at as not supporting the police and fire departments. Walker had more success in Wisconsin.

The Supreme Court recently had a favorable ruling on the subject.

That was a long read. Here are some bullet points I took away.

  • Department of Education, why do we even have it? Isn't this a problem they should have solved shortly after its creation.

  • What the hell is college teaching these teachers? It gave an example of a doctorate in teaching who stated this was new knowledge.

  • You don't need to be a teacher to understand phonemes and allophones (you don't even have to know what they are). None of these teachers understood SOUND IT OUT SYLLABLE BY SYLLABLE? Are you freaking kidding me? They never picked up a Dr. Seuss book?

  • Schools can't be expected to teach children 100%, parents must be involved. (not really a topic here, but I'll toss this out anyways)

I'm glad they are having more success with these kids, but it is appalling to me the level of failure in the first place.
