Mann, a Harvard Law professor hired onto the school’s faculty a decade after his wife, gave his most extensive comments to date about how the attacks on his wife have affected him. He said they have been a source of pain and outrage. “It takes the extraordinarily distinguished academic career that she built up over a lifetime and reduces it to a slur,” Mann said.

This perfectly explains the morally degrading reality of affirmative action: those who receive special consideration because of their race will always face quesitons--whether from themselves or others--about whether they deserved it or not. If we treat everyone equally, this entire article would never need to be written, and nobody would worry about her racial background and instead focus on her work and policies.
