It's a black-mirror-type idea that feels irresponsible to focus on lest we hasten its future implementation.

The Atlantic is like the ultimate anti-signal to truth; it tells you exactly what the respectable, political establishment class wants you to believe. If they keep repeating how the idea is "far out there", a "wild idea", "too confusing to bother with", etc, you know you're actually pretty close to on target.

For their main audience of wannabe intellectuals who are particularly sensitive of what their peers think, it's a great publication to check to make sure you understand which beliefs are acceptable vs not before you head to that dinner party.
